I have been using the name Captain J since I was 16 years old. It was my CB Radio handle back in the day. I have always known since I was a child that fishing would be a big part of my life. My father was an avid fisherman and took me to the Everglades and the 10,000 islands area of South Florida when I was old enough to hold a fishing rod. We did a lot of back country fishing for tarpon, snook, redfish, trout, and other species that live in the Everglades. In fact, I am a Charter/Lifetime member of B.A.S.S. and fished many of the BASS Tournaments in the 80’s.
We bought a home in Tavernier, FL in 1985 which introduced me to the thrills of offshore fishing. It quickly became my passion and I have spent the last 30 plus years learning the waters and techniques required to catch the wide variety of species of fish available in these tropical waters. I have also been fortunate to travel the world fishing and learning other professional angler’s techniques on how to target specific species. Other fishing grounds include Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, the Amazon, Fiji, Hawaii, Alaska, Newfoundland, and the Bahamas to name a few.
Catching Sailfish, Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Tilefish, Grouper, Snapper, and the other species here in the Keys is what I do, both personally and professionally. Whether live baiting, trolling, deep dropping, drift fishing, anchoring, or kite fishing, we have the equipment and knowledge to get it done. My mission is to ensure that my customers have a safe, comfortable, and rewarding day on the water. I work hard to make sure that catching fish and having fun is the end result of our trip. On my boat, YOU will catch the fish. I will assist in the process but I love to see people hook and reel in their own catch, nothing puts a bigger smile on my face. Whether it is your first time fishing or you are a seasoned angler, a great day out is my goal.
